Video : Your child’s feeling world
Watch as Carol explains how children live in a feelings world, whereas adults live in their ‘heads’. She reminds us that often we unintentionally deny a child’s feelings by telling them they can’t be feeling something or that it’s ‘not that bad’ etc. – hereby effect their developing self-esteem. An important concept here is that “all feelings are allowed – actions are limited”.
Carol gives examples of how this works. This video also discusses how by even trying to fix a child’s ‘bad’ feelings – we’re actually taking away an important learning opportunity from them. When children learn that all of their feelings are allowed, they become more in touch with their inner world’s and how each feeling can be expressed and managed. When we ignore, deny or try to fix a child’s feelings, it actually takes away from their experience and ability to understand themselves,
